Dayaka Sabhava of Sri Sambuddha Viharaya in Liverpool had organised a number of events to celebrate Vesak including Vesak lantern competition, sil samadanweema (observance of eight precepts), Vesak dansala and most importantly, a display of Vesak Thorana. Observance of Sill started from 8am and lasted till 5pm, many devotees took part in it. The lantern competition was sponsored by Tryco International. This was the first event of its kind held in Liverpool.
A beautiful electronically illuminated Vesak Panadol was also displayed for two days, on the 3rd and 4th of May 2015, again attended by a large number of people not only from Liverpool, but all over the UK.
The Vesak celebration was organised by the Dayaka Sabhava under the guidance of Chief incumbent of Sambuddha Viharaya, most ven. Kappitiyagoda Gunawansa, Chief Sanganayaka of Great Britain. Religious events were conducted by ven. Ampare Sugatharathan thero, resident Buddhist monk of Sri Sambuddha Viharaya in Liverpool.
